Scrum team management: From Theory to Practice
The “Agile Methodologies – Kanban – Scrum Team Management: From Theory to Practice” course guides participants to master the Kanban tool, which improves the overall process and functioning of the Scrum team. Based on theory, workshops, exercises and case studies, this preparation is intended for projects and team leaders who want to shift towards an Agile approach. This course is also intended for leaders looking for pragmatic solutions to organizational problems.

Course objectives
- Understand how to leverage project management with the Kanban method when applied to Scrum teams
- Discover the reasons to use the Kanban tool
- Understand how the Kanban tool complements the Scrum method
- Learn how to use the Kanban tool
- Discover what is the workflow within a Scrum team
- Discover how to visualize the workflow with the Kanban method
- Learn how to limit work in progress
- Learn active management of work items in progress
- Discover how to review and adapt the workflow definition
- Understand how to optimize the workflow, as well as the metrics to achieve it
- Discover how to adapt Scrum events to apply the Kanban techniques
Educational approach
The “Agile Methodologies – Kanban – Scrum Team Management: From Theory to Practice” has several approaches:
- Presentation of theoretical concepts
- Presentation of real-life cases and association with other good practices
- Feedback from trainer and participants
- Reverse classroom approach for online courses: asynchronous activities scheduled between workshops to maintain engagement and deepen learning

In order to master the concepts covered in the course, participants must complete itwith personal practice.
At the end of this training, participants will have acquired a solid foundation on the Kanban method within a Scrum team, by exploring its mechanics and applications. They will have understood how the tool complements the Scrum method, and how to use it for optimization purposes.
Duration
In person: One day/8 hours
Online: The equivalent of 8 hours in the form of 2 x 4 hoursvirtual workshops over 1 week
Admission requirements
The course has no specific prerequisites. It covers the basic elements of the Kanban tool. For participants with Agile experience and more advanced skills, it is recommended to take the Scrum Master II course.
